Known as the 'herb of the heart', the common hawthorn is one of the most frequently found but also one of the most useful plants, medically speaking, in the northern hemisphere, whose long-lasting use benefits the body in numerous ways. Primarily it is an excellent cardiac tonic which is used for conditions such as angina, arrhythmia and tachycardia, while also improving blood circulation and balancing blood pressure, whether for hypertension or low blood pressure. Also, the common hawthorn combats convulsions and fever, and has a strong antioxidant effect, while also fighting insomnia stemming from nervous hypertension.
