Summer Tea Recipes

 

 

Summer is the perfect time to enjoy refreshing beverages that invigorate and energize us. Tea, with its rich flavors and aromas, serves as an excellent base for creative recipes that will delight your palate. In the following six recipes, you will discover unique combinations that highlight the freshness of matcha and houjicha, the distinctive taste of mastiha, and the sweetness of summer fruits. Get ready to enjoy cool and aromatic drinks that will accompany you through the hottest days of the year!
 

Houjicha Latte




Ingredients:
 
4 gr Houjicha powder  
30 ml water 
1/2 tsp sugar (or sugar alternative) 
150 ml milk (or milk alternative) 
To decorate: whipped cream and extra Houjicha powder to dust

 
Preparation:

Mix Houjicha powder and sugar in a cup
Pour in 30 ml boiling water and stir until well dissolved
Heat milk, froth it in your cup and then slowly add the houjicha tea
If desired, top up with whipped cream and dust with Houjicha powder


Matcha Latte





Ingredients:

1/2 - 1 teaspoon of matcha
1/4 cup of warm water (not boiling)
1/4 cup of warm milk or almond milk
Agave syrup, honey or stevia
 
Preparation:

1. Put the matcha in an empty glass and pour the water. Mix with a chasen or a hand mixer for about 30 seconds.
2. Add honey or agave syrup and mash everything slowly.
3. Heat the milk for a while and make foam using the hand mixer or a device for frothing milk. Now pour the milk foam into the matcha you have already prepared.
4. Taste hot or cold by adding ice.


Milkshake Mastiha Chai




Ingredients:

½ c full fat milk
2 tsp Mastiha Chai tea
3 scoops vanilla ice cream
½ tsp mastiha powder
 
Preparation:

Bring milk and mastiha powder to a boil. Remove from heat, add tea leaves. Let infuse for ½ hour. Strain and place in refrigerator until cool. Combine milk and ice cream in a blender and beat well. Add some milk or ice cream to reach desired consistency. Serve in tall glass. 


Iced tea: Hot water method




For 1 l iced tea:

Put 6-7 teaspoons of tea in 250 ml hot water, let steep according to brewing time and strain in order to prepare a strong hot tea.
Add 2-4 tablespoons of sugar (optional).
Pour this brew into a 1-litre pitcher filled with ice cubes.
The iced tea cools immediately and is ready to drink.

Add a slice of lemon and keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
Adapt quantities for a smaller or larger pitcher.
 

Iced tea: Cold water method





For 1 l iced tea:
Put 5 rounded teaspoons of tea into a 1-litre jug filled with ½ l room-temperature water. 
Let steep according to below brewing times, strain and top up with ice cubes.
The iced tea is ready to drink.
Keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. 

Green tea: 30 min       
Black tea: 45 min
Fruit and herbal teas: 60min
 

Iced tea with fruits




For 1 l iced tea:

5 teaspoons Chado tea
1 ½ tablespoons honey
½ orange, quartered
½ lemon, quartered
½ lime, quartered
2 sprigs fresh spearmint

Steep the tea in ½ litre hot water along with the hone, for 4 minutes, then strain.
Place the fruit and mint in a 1-litre jug, lightly pressing the lime and orange to express some of the juice.
Add the prepared tea, fill with ice cubes and serve.
