The district of Darjeeling, situated in northern West Bengal, India, at the foothills of the Himalayas, is home to 87 tea gardens, or estates, located between 1000 and 2000 metres in elevation and varying in size from 80 to 500 hectares. These estates produce “the champagne of teas”, premium quality exclusively hand-picked, mostly black teas during three main harvests – Spring, Summer and Fall. Arya Tea Estate covers 125 hectares and has an average elevation of 1500mmaking access to it extremely difficult and a challenge even to the experienced estate drivers. Arya Diamond 1st flush is a Pure AV2 Clonal Tea. A premium 1st flush, tippy and chunky, produced only in very limited quantities, this is one of the Arya Tea Estate’s signature brand teas. Despite the growing challenges of climate change everywhere, the estate has managed to deliver a constant quality year after year and this tea was chosen in April 2023 as one of the Best among the Top 7 teas from the 87 Tea Gardens of Darjeeling. Wiry dark green leaves and silver buds yielding a slightly sweet, fragrant light green liquor with floral and nutty aromas along with a smooth chocolate after taste.

Tea Route
India Arya Tea Estate, originally known as Sidrabong, was established in 1885 by Buddhist monks who devoted themselves, among their other duties, to cultivating tea trees. The house they inhabited in the 19th century can still be found on the estate. Arya Tea Estate is famous for its “Jewel” range of teas, usually produced in very limited quantities in order to retain their purity, including tearoute’s Diamond, Ruby and Emerald varieties.
