Darjeeling 1st Flush
Darjeeling, located in the shadow of the Himalayas, produces some of the best teas in India and worldwide. They are known as the “Champagne of teas” because of the highly aromatic, fruity and slightly tart character imparted by the terroir. Among others, altitude -gardens rise as high as 2500m- the long hours of sunshine during the day and low temperatures during the night that allow the tea trees to slowly mature and the teas to acquire their concentrated aromas and complex profile.

It is with great pleasure, and delay due to this year’s challenging conditions and their negative impact on transport, that we present the two new Spring harvest teas selected from the region.

The first one, Darjeeling Arya Ruby 2021 STGGFOP1, comes from the same garden as the second flush you enjoyed last year. It is a luxuriant tea with a powerful character, made from leaves of the clonal variety AV2 well-known for its fragrant character.
The second one, Darjeeling Yanki 2021 STGGFOP1, on the other hand, is light and refreshing, the result of hard work and painstaking efforts by the Darjeeling Orthodox Small Tea Growers Welfare Society that has been active in Darjeeling these last years with the goal of producing high quality teas while at the same time protecting the small independent tea growers.
Two teas, though both first flush Darjeeling teas, with very distinct characters that best express the uniqueness of each lot, each season, each garden and celebrate the beauty of tea. Discover them!
