Porcelain is a mixture of quartz and kaolin (white, very pure, clay). The techniques of porcelain making were perfected in China around the 12th century. Porcelain is fired a first time below 1000ºC before being glazed (powder or liquid form) and then a second time at 1200ºC - 1400ºC.
