10 questions about tea

1. Which tea is considered the healthiest?
Green and white teas are thought to be the best teas for health. They have many beneficial properties and mainly antioxidants such as catechins and theaflavins. Especially green and white tea, are very effective in fighting ageing. It partially protects the body from the action of free radicals responsible for ageing and wrinkles.

2. What can be the disadvantages of tea?
Tea in large amounts can in some cases make it difficult for the body to absorb iron.
Theine (equivalent to caffeine) when consumed in large quantities can cause nervousness and/or insomnia.
3. Which tea contains the most theine?
In general, we can say that white teas contain the most theine (115 to 146mg for a 300ml cup) while Oolong and Pu Er teas have the least amount of theine (52 to 77mg for 300ml).
However, if you want to leave your tea longer in the water, its theine content will decrease after 3-4 minutes and your tea will acquire a stronger and possibly bitter taste.
4. Which tea helps sleep?
Linden, lemon balm and chamomile are some of the herbs known for their beneficial properties for a good night's sleep. In the evening you can drink them plain or choose one of our herbal blends such as Night-time Magic or Relax Tea with valerian root. 
5. How can I best keep my tea?
Avoid excessive heat, humidity and light and keep it away from strong smells that the tea can absorb.But don’t put your tea in the fridge because without realizing it, you risk getting it wet.

6. How long can I keep tea?
If kept properly, away from air, light and moisture it will never spoil. However, tea does lose its freshness and aromas over time. That is why there is a ‘best before’ date of freshness on our tea bags.

7. How much tea can I consume per day?
Research suggests that 3-5 cups, i.e. about 1 litre a day, is the recommended amount for an healthy consumption of tea.
8. What water should I use to make my tea?
Water quality is important, avoid very "hard" water with mineral deposits. Choose very well filtered water or some bottled spring water.

Look at the packaging for the indications of time and temperature which differ depending on the category of the tea. If you follow these instructions, you’ll get an excellent tea.
