The red berries of common hawthorn, or Crataegus monogyna, are considered to be one of the best circulation tonic and for that reason it is often called the heart herb. Hawthorn is used to treat hypertension, arteriosclerosis and angina. It gently regulates blood pressure and is an excellent heart tonic. Hawthorne tea can be drunk 1-2 times a day (morning and evening) in between meals. Put 2 teaspoons berries in a cup of boiled water and let seep for 20minutes before straining.
